Lecture theatres are functional spaces where a variety of teaching activities may be undertaken. Predominantly, they are a teaching space where every student must be able to hear and see what is happening. The lecturer must be able to use the facilities easily and they must be reliable in operation, providing all the necessary teaching tools. The presenter must be able to present his or her material in many different formats and the space must be able to accommodate this, quickly and easily. The controls must be intuitive and generally, there is a high level of technology ‘behind the scenes’ to make the space operate effectively and efficiently.
